Mapping Absence references loss and investigates the human desire to collect in an attempt to harness nature. Transparent vinyl is stitched to fit the head of a trophy deer like a glove. Clear vinyl, cast plastic and sheet acrylic encase the air and trace the specific dimensions of what is not there. The actual deer head is absent, and this ethereal object now provides a guide to its memory, and evidence of the desire to possess it.
